A Couple of Photos

Here is as close as we could get to the Bird's Nest during the Paralympics.  You have to have a ticket for an event on the Olympic green on the day of...to go up close to the Bird's Nest or the Water Cube.  Our Wheelchair Rugby events were at a different location.  Tonight we will go to this same vista to see the closing ceremony's fireworks display.  Should be something else.

Brynna has decided that she is going to be a vampire now.  Its really annoying how she just lurks now--all the time.

If you look closely, you can see my mobile phone and olympic tickets flying out of my pocket.   Such force, such grace.

Dispatches from the 23rd Floor

Hi All,
This is our first post.  We are in Beijing, China finally after a long summer of waiting and uncertainty.  We live on the 23rd floor of our apartment building and occasionally can feel the building move a little.  We are still settling in to our elevated setting and our distance from our home.  We are figuring out the basics, how to get food, water and where to catch the subway.   We have started working at a tutoring center called "The Learning Center".  Beijing is a huge city with much to offer and to think of all of the prospects is tiring.  I guess we will be tired a lot.
Last night we attended a Paralympic Wheelchair Rugby match between the USA and Great Britain.  USA won the close match and will be playing for the gold tonight.  The Paralympics are really incredible and are in many ways more inspiring and enthralling than the Olympics.  People in Beijing are filling the events and the local television stations are showing them non-stop.  Brynna did a little research and found out that the Paralympics were created after WWII to help veterans rehabilitate from traumatic physical injury.
Oh well, must go to work.  Keep checking back.
